The lambs are raised humanely using modern management techniques that promote sustainable agriculture. Their animals are pasture raised and finished with wholesome grains.

• The animals are raised on pasture grazing the natural grasses of Maine.
• Forage based program along with a whole grain finishing diet gives the lamb a wonderful marbling without the fat covering of heavy grain fed lamb. 
• Grazing with small amounts of whole grains gives the tender lamb a wonderful taste not available in grass-fed only programs.
• Their pastures are not fertilized nor sprayed with any herbicide. 
• North Star’s animals are not given added hormones EVER. Antibiotics are used to treat individual animals on a case by case basis when needed. 
• The feed program is a vegetable diet and includes pasture grasses during the growing seasons, locally grown first and second cut Timothy hay during the winter and early spring along with whole oats and barley.
• All grain products contain no animal by-products, no added hormones and no added antibiotics. These animals are processed in local USDA plants using humane animal practices.
