Native Maine Produce & Specialty Foods Announces
Major Cold-Air Efficiency Project

For Immediate Release
March 12, 2010
Westbrook, Maine - Native Maine Produce & Specialty Foods, 10 Bradley Drive

Native Maine Produce & Specialty Foods (NMPSF) is pleased to announce that an agreement with Freeaire® Refrigeration Systems of Vermont has been reached.  Design, plans and installation of this project is by AAA Energy of Scarborough, Maine. This agreement includes an ecologically designed system that will literally blow cold air from Mother Nature into the 350,000 cubic feet of refrigerated warehouse space, thus significantly reducing the need for electrically powered compressors. This system will work within the organization’s headquarters and food distribution center located at 10 Bradley Drive, Westbrook, Maine.

Installation is expected to begin in April, 2010. This is the largest cold-air efficiency project currently in Maine.

“There is no more ecologically sound way to refrigerate something than a Freeaire System, with outside air, unless you count storing your food in a snow bank! A Freeaire system's cooler controller uses a microprocessor with highly accurate and reliable temperature sensors to precisely and reliably control the refrigeration. This new system installed throughout our enormous refrigerated space will allow NMPSF to suck in more of Maine’s frigid winter air to naturally temper the air inside of our already modern, Freon free, fossil-fuel free electrically compressed coolers.”
---Mike Posey, Systems & Facilities Administrator, NMPSF
